We manufacture magnets for several Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers Internationally. The magnets contain plasma in the source region and focus, shape, and steer ion beams along the beamline. The magnets also act as a mass spectrometer by selecting and filtering and thereby allowing only specific elements to implant into the silicon wafers causing the nonconductive silicon wafers to become semiconductors.
Our magnets are used in medical proton beam accelerators to focus and direct a very precise beam of energy at a very specific target area and depth. The proton beam essentially destroys the cancerous cells with very little damage to the surrounding healthy cells due to the precise focusing result of the magnets. We also make MRI magnets for medical research of animals and people.
We have successfully built magnets to levitate maglev (magnetic levitation) trains. There is a fully functional model, with our magnets, on a track outside Atlanta, GA. The technology and manufacturing methods have been proven and large-scale funding is awaiting approval.
We have been and are currently working with various well-funded groups who are using our magnets for researching and developing fusion power reactors. Fusion is somewhat more difficult than fission as there is no known material that can contain the plasma from hydrogen fusion, so it must be contained magnetically.
We have also made a great number of magnetic bearings for kinetic energy storage. Kinetic energy storage is the means of storing energy kinetically (mechanically) in a flywheel or other means and then being able to convert that mechanical energy into electrical energy when needed.
We make many of our magnets for government and private research labs. We currently do work for most of the USA DOE government labs as well as some other international labs and for universities all around the world. All of these labs are performing research using particle beams. Some are smashing other particles, some are doing carbon dating, by virtue of Rutherford Backscattering, others still are using beams to capture extremely fast events using X-rays, and still others are performing materials analysis.
Many of our magnets are used to make medical isotopes. Isotopes are variants of a particular chemical element which differ in neutron number. All isotopes of a given element have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons in each atom. This causes that specific element to become radioactive.
Our magnets are also the heart of Vibrating Sample Magnetometers (VSM). These pieces of equipment are used to measure very small details in the samples such as critical substrate parameters including thickness, TTV, bow, warp, and local thickness variation (LTV). These are ideal pieces of equipment for analysis use in semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
Technicoil has been intimately involved in helping to develop state-of-the-art seismic underwater survey equipment that is also environmentally friendly to marine life and will eventually replace all air gun survey equipment.
We also helped to develop and continue to manufacture the magnets used in high-performance 3-D printers.
We have helped to develop and continue to manufacture magnets for the invention of manufacturing 3D carbon fiber materials where continuous carbon fibers are reinforced with Z-Axis milled fibers.
We manufacture magnets used in removing ferrous materials in slurry used to manufacture paper.
